Fundamentals of design, conceptualization, and development of interactive software utilizing three-dimensional engine systems, including scene and agent development, multimedia integration, content pipelines, and production process. Culminates in a practical 2D, 2.5D, or 3D application project. Prerequisite: Some programming knowledge
CEN 4930 – AI for Virtual Environments & Games (3 Credits)
Development of artificial intelligence within the context of virtual environments and games. Topics include fundamentals of design and interfaces for virtual environments and games as well as common topics in AI specific to such environments. Techniques covered include problem-solving algorithms, turn-based decisions, and behavioral / decision-making techniques used to develop agents as characters. The course will focus not just on developing intelligent systems but also those that develop user interest / engagement to enhance user experiences. Prerequisite: COP 3530

Theory and practice of cross-cultural interaction and how it applies within an engineering context, including culture influences on communications, assumptions, acceptance, and usage of ideas, physical objects, and software, as well as the important role of considering culture when developing products and processes for an international audience.

CIS 6930 – Autonomous Agents in Virt. Env. & Games (3 credits)
Development of autonomous agents within the context of virtual environments and games. Topics include fundamentals of design and interfaces for virtual environments and games as well as common topics in AI specific to such environments. Techniques covered include problem-solving algorithms, turn-based decisions, and behavioral / decision-making techniques used to develop agents as characters, as well as exploration of cutting-edge and real-time approaches. The course will focus not just on developing intelligent systems but also those that develop user interest / engagement to enhance user experiences. Prerequisite: Mastery of undergraduate computing concepts (B.S. level)
CIS 6930 – Principles of Culturally Aware Design (3 credits)
Theory, practice, and research methodology of cross-cultural interaction and how it applies within an engineering context, including culture influences on communications, assumptions, acceptance, and usage of ideas, physical objects, and software, as well as the important role of considering culture when developing products and processes for an international audience. Explores existing research, challenges, and established methods of cross-cultural investigations. Culminates in a cross-culturally focused study design and execution.
