Description:
Recently, there has been a growing demand for advanced functionality of materials and devices to solve diverse social issues. These include the massive introduction of renewable energy and advanced energy management aimed at reducing CO2, and the realization of Society 5.0 through comfortable mobility with autonomous driving and utilization of IoT/AI. In this workshop, students from the University of Florida and Kyoto University will discuss differences between the USA and Japan, share their own perspectives and ideas, and discuss new technologies and manufacturing aimed at such a sustainable society in a group. Finally, they will summarize their discussions and make a presentation.

近年、地球の温暖化回避のためのCO2削減や環境負荷の低減、自動運転に代表される快適なモビリティやIoT/AIの 利用によるSociety 5.0 の実現など様々な社会的課題の解決に向けて、高効率の機能材料やデバイスの開発、情報通信の新技術開発への要求が高まっている。本ワークショップでは、このような持続可能な社会を目指した新技術・ものづくりについて、京都大学とフロリダ大学の学生が日本と米国の違いを考察しながら、独自の視点とアイデアを出し合い、グループで討論し、最終的にまとめた内容を発表する。
