With Covid-19, the need to stay at home and work remotely has caused people to rethink the way they live. The UK is one of the first countries to make changes to its housing laws to improve environmental performance and accessibility. In Japan, too, there is a renewed interest in creating ‘alone’ spaces for social distancing and study spaces for teleworking from inside homes. Various functions were at some point in our history outsourced from the home to the city, but recent events have highlighted that the home may need to be enhanced once again. As students of engineering and as home owners, it is our duty to consider and discuss what is needed for the future of the home.

テーマ趣旨：コロナ禍における自宅待機や、テレワークの推進などで、住まいのあり方が見直されている。イギリスではいち早く、住まいの環境性能やバリアフリー性を向上すべく法改正がなされようとしている。日本でも、距離を取るための「ひとり空間」や、テレワークのための書斎空間の充実が再評価されている。住まいから都市へ様々な機能がアウトソースされてきたが、住まいはもう一度充実すべきなのかもしれない。工学を学ぶものとして、一人の住まい手として、これからの住まいに必要なものを考える。
