Thank you for your interest in the Computer Engineering program at the University of Florida’s Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering. The Computer Engineering program has a tradition of excellence and only admits highly qualified transfer students who have demonstrated they can meet or exceed our high academic standards.
Admission Requirements for the Computer Engineering Program
Computer Engineering admits qualified transfer students who have completed an Associate in Arts degree at a Florida public community or state college. Students seeking admission from other universities or out-of-state schools may be considered for admission on a space available basis. Transfer students are admitted in fall, spring, and summer C terms. Generally, Qualified applicants will have earned a minimum overall tracking GPA of 2.50 in their major critical-tracking courses (see below) and an overall grade point average of 2.0 or higher. Only the first two attempts of critical tracking coursework will be considered for admissions to the department. An attempt includes withdrawals, drops, or audits. Transfer students only meeting the minimum requirements will be considered for the Computer Engineering program but will not guarantee admissions to our program. Transfer Admissions from the Florida State College Systems
Students applying from the Florida State College system must meet the following requirements, with no exceptions:
- Completed critical-tracking requirements
- Met or exceeded GPA requirement for overall and critical-tracking courses (minimum does not guarantee admissions)
- Earned Associate of Arts degree (AA).
Transfer Admissions from Out-Of-State and other Four-Year Institutions
Students applying from a Florida 4-year University or Out-Of-State university, or other 2-year Institution must meet the following requirements, with no exceptions:
- Completed all critical-tracking requirements
- Met or exceeded GPA requirement for overall and critical-tracking courses (minimum does not guarantee admissions)
- Earned 60 or more credit hours
Students may be required to submit course syllabi for critical tracking and core coursework courses to seek out equivalency. This is the responsibility of the student. Please note that it is not a given that coursework equivalency will be granted. If admitted to the program, students will be required to complete all State-Core and UF General Education courses and the core computer engineering courses.

- MAC2311 Analytical Geometry & Calculus 1
- MAC2312 Analytical Geometry & Calculus 2
- MAC2313 Analytical Geometry & Calculus 3
- MAP2302 Differential Equations
- PHY2048 Physics with Calculus 1 (lab not required)
- PHY2049 Physics with Calculus 2 (lab not required)
Students is must finish all critical tracking courses before their first term of enrollment at UF.
PHY2053 or PHY2054 or equivalent will not be accepted.
The combined critical tracking GPA must be 2.5 or higher throughout the completion of all 6 tracking courses and attempts.
No more than two critical tracking courses can be repeated, each having one additional attempt. Note that a dropped course (W) counts as an unsuccessful attempt.
